Title – General Manager (“GM”)

Reports to:  CEO, Management Staff

Classification:  Full-Time, Exempt


This position will oversee all Taproom operations including but not limited to:

  • Financial performance & increasing business revenue

  • Guest satisfaction

  • Event coordination & implementation   

  • Staff training & development

  • Social Media

The GM must represent Calicraft LLC Brands with knowledge and passion at all times.  The ideal candidate LOVES craft beer, is extremely organized and detail oriented, and is responsible as well as hard working.   The GM must be motivated to lead a team of service professionals to continue to grow our business.

This position is Full-Time with required hours on nights and weekends.  The GM must have the willingness to step in wherever is needed – this could include bartending, conducting training, cleaning draft lines, washing glassware, etc.      

The GM is the primary point of contact for guests and is responsible for creating an excellent service experience.  The GM must represent the brand positively and be knowledgeable about the products sold. The GM must provide prompt, courteous service while maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for guests.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned based on business needs)   

  • Opening and closing of Taproom

  • Prepare end of day and opening reports and cash management

  • Meet monthly, quarterly, annual Sales goals of the Taproom with events and promotions, managing inventory, labor and operational costs. Proactively manage Taproom P&L.

  • Creating a friendly environment that is welcoming and exciting for all customers.  Ensure an environment of service excellence. Guest experience is a top priority

  • Hiring, training, scheduling and managing of all Taproom staff.   

  • Monitor employee performance and participate in employee performance reviews

  • POS System knowledge (Square), maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting.   

  • Keep an optimal inventory of glassware, growlers, merchandise, etc.      

  • Accountable for all cash/credit card sales.   

  • Carrying out procedures that minimize loss and facilitate accountability.   

  • Communicating with Accounting/HR/Logistics regarding all purchasing/cash/payroll/HR matters

  • Maintain daily cleanliness of taproom and organizing regular cleaning and maintenance.

  • Ensuring that the taproom and grounds, including parking lot, are properly cleaned and prepped before and after each shift.

  • Maintain high standard of facility readiness   

  • Work with brewery management to creatively promote new beers and develop a calendar of daily, weekly, monthly social events.     

  • Develop and keep an accurate Food Trucks schedule and coordinate a food program.

  • Develop, schedule and execute private events in the taproom   

  • Work with Marketing Manager to plan, execute monthly Social Media promotions

  • Respond in a timely manner to social media posts, questions, comments and complaints   

  • Create and implement a taproom staff beer training program. Ensure that all taproom staff have a deep knowledge of all core, special Calicraft beers and what is available on tap.   

  • Keep detailed record of customer complaints, employee write-ups and other daily occurrences.   

  • Manage tip distribution to taproom staff

  • Understanding and abiding by Federal, State and Local regulations

  • Ensure all safety and sanitation guidelines are followed

  • Ensure all company policies and guidelines are followed

  • Maintain OSHA records and workplace safety records on a routine basis

  • Support the implementation and execution of marketing initiatives and company programs.


  • A minimum of two (2) years Restaurant/Taproom management experience with a proven track record and work history

  • Basic knowledge of the brewing process a must

  • Must be over 21 years old and hold a valid California drivers’ license

  • Must successfully pass a third-party background check   

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Excellent knowledge Google Docs   

  • Knowledge of Square (POS) preferred but not required

Training Required:   

This position requires successful completion of the LEAD (Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs) exam provided by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control before the commencement of employment. Failure to pass this exam will result in termination. Calicraft LLC is not responsible for any costs relating to the exam.

This position reports to and works with the CEO of the Calicraft LLC.  The GM will work directly with the CEO and the management team.


The GM is expected to wear clothing appropriate for the nature of our business and the type of work performed.  Clothing should be clean, neat and tasteful. Business Casual attire, such as collared shirts, is expected as the GM is required to appear professional.  Because of the nature of the business, all employees should wear employee-provided slip resistant closed-toe no-heel shoes.  Avoid clothing that can create a safety hazard.


All staff must wash their hands with water after they use the restroom and lather their hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.  All staff should wash their hands as needed during their shift, especially after handling cash and handling dirty glasses, to prevent the spread of germs.  


Personal cell phones and other personal electronic devices should be turned off and not visible to guests during hours of operation.  Personal use of the Taproom telephone is not permitted unless it is an emergency.
